CAPACITY TO CHANGE: Most Heroes Refuse The Call. Period.

We usually take for granted people’s ability to change. This assumption comes from books and movies, where a protagonist’s change is the basis of the narrative. The character’s change or arc attracts us to the film or a book when we see more dramatic changes in a person during two hours of screen time than most of us will witness during our lives.

Although people can change, never assume it will happen when you start a project. Prepare to work with people, their competencies, and attitudes as they are at the beginning of the project. If people improve, treat it as a divine gift.
