DAILY INCREMENTS: From Quantity to Quality
“Daily increments” is a universal growing principle. Things rarely happen at once: they grow by adding one thing to another, as houses appear brick by brick. What we see is usually the result of many decisions and actions. World-class experts and the world’s most wanted criminals are not born—they have been becoming such for years, day by day.
The same goes for projects: daily decisions to hire a better expert, not spend money on weird solutions, and document actions gradually increase the probability of success while adding tasks without analysis and trying to save time by skipping quality checks all pull the project to scope creep and failures.
The same principle applies to groups: careless onboarding people, chaotic communications, and meaningless metrics result in clumsy boards, units, and committees that bog in conflicts and produce nothing.
Our knowledge base, skills, and reputation also develop through daily and hourly increments. Naturally, if a person does nothing daily, all these empty days will ultimately grow into an empty life.
