LEADER: A Paramedic Approach
We can use the approach grounded in resources, uncertainty, and boundaries to quickly evaluate any leader.
First and foremost, it's crucial to comprehend the group endpoint the leader is steering towards. Whether your personal endpoint is financial gain or not, understanding the leader's expectations is critical. If you're unsure, it's advisable to seek clarity. Without a clear understanding of the endpoint, effective collaboration is impossible.
Second, does the leader have the resources to reach the endpoint? Time, money, equipment? If more is needed, does the leader have a plan to overcome deficiencies and obtain more resources?
A necessary resource is a skill to influence people. If the leader lacks it, it is hard to compensate.
Thirdly, reviewing the leader's track record to mitigate uncertainty is beneficial. Has the leader demonstrated the ability to achieve goals in the past? Past performance is the best indicator of the future one.
Fourth, evaluate your personal feelings toward the person. Do you like her? If something makes you feel uncomfortable, try to analyze it.
If there are negative answers, reconsider your want to follow her.
